Random Gaming Squad Generator

Paste the gamertags, spin, and let the wheel build the squads. Works for 5v5, a LAN bracket or a ten-person lobby that cannot agree on sides.

What This Squad Generator Does

The wheel starts with ten numbered player slots so the shape is visible before you type anything. Replace them with real gamertags in Edit the list, then spin to deal the lobby into squads. The generator stays game-agnostic on purpose — it cares about how many players you have and how many squads you need, not about which title you are playing.

Building Even Squads From One Lobby

  1. Paste the gamertags. One per line, up to 100.
  2. Turn on no-repeat. Remove entry after it is picked takes each name off the wheel once it has been drawn.
  3. Deal across the squads. First draw to squad one, second to squad two, and back round. Alternating keeps the squads the same size.
  4. Save the draw. Export CSV writes the order out, which matters once a bracket depends on it.

Seeding a Tournament Bracket

A bracket needs an order, not a winner. Type every entrant, switch on no-repeat, and spin until the wheel empties. The Results list numbers each draw in sequence, and that sequence becomes the seeding. Export it before the first match so nobody relitigates the draw afterwards.

The tally under the Results list counts how often each entry has appeared. Across a long session it shows the split settling toward even, which is what an unweighted wheel produces.

Handicapping With Weights

The wheel weights entries by repetition, and applies no hidden weighting of its own. A gamertag typed twice occupies two segments and carries twice the chance of one typed once. Use that when a group agrees on a handicap; leave every name on one line when the goal is a straight fair draw.

Where the Randomness Comes From

Every spin draws from the browser’s cryptographic random number generator and discards values that would skew the split, so each segment holds exactly the same chance. The wheel picks the winning segment before the animation starts, which means a slow device cannot change the outcome. The spin engine explanation sets out the method in full.

The gaming wheel hub holds three wheels that start from game-specific lists rather than plain player slots.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many gamertags can the squad generator hold?

Up to 100. Paste them one per line into Edit the list and press Apply to wheel.

Does it fill both squads for me at once?

The wheel draws one name at a time. Alternate the draws between your squads — first to one, second to the other — and the squads finish the same size.

Can I keep the draw for a bracket?

Yes. Export CSV saves every draw in order, numbered as it arrived, so the seeding survives the session.

Can I make one player more likely to be drawn?

Type that gamertag on two lines. Each line is one segment, so the name occupies twice the wheel and carries twice the chance.

Which games does the squad generator work for?

Any of them. The wheel picks from the list you type and knows nothing about the game itself, which is why it suits mixed sessions as well as a single title.
